Description

A Pelerine Cassock Designed for Liturgical Presence

The Aeternum men’s clergy cassock has been developed for clergy who want the visual weight of a traditional Roman cassock without sacrificing modern wearing comfort. The defining feature is the single-tier pelerine — a fitted shoulder cape that drapes evenly over the upper arms and softens with movement, a hallmark of senior canonical and house cassock tailoring. Beneath the pelerine, a fitted bodice flows into a panelled skirt that reaches the ankle, allowing the garment to settle gracefully when standing, kneeling or walking in procession.

Cincture, Stole and Trim Detailing

The wide grosgrain cincture is finished with twin lines of gold metallic piping along the upper and lower edges, a refined detail that catches candlelight without competing with the chasuble or stole worn over the cassock. A coordinating ceremonial stole drops from the cincture, embroidered with a Latin cross in gold thread and finished with a hand-knotted bullion fringe. The cincture and stole are removable, allowing the cassock to be worn alone for routine wear or fully accessorised for high feast days, ordinations and processional liturgies.

Fabric, Construction and Care

Constructed in a four-season wool-blend gabardine (approx. 55% wool / 45% polyester), the Aeternum holds a crisp matte finish that resists the shine common to fully synthetic cassocks. The shell is fully lined through the bodice and shoulder cape with a breathable lining for thermal comfort during long services. Internal seams are bound and reinforced at stress points (under-arm gusset, side-seam pockets, hem facing) to extend the garment’s working life. Side-entry pockets sit hidden beneath the cincture line. Care: dry clean only; steam-press on a wool setting between wears.

Who This Cassock Is For

The Aeternum is well suited to Roman Catholic, Anglican, Old Catholic and Eastern-rite clergy who serve in pelerine-style cassocks, including parish priests presiding at solemn liturgies, seminarians preparing for ordination, deacons and lectors at cathedral functions, and choirs requiring a uniform processional garment with shoulder cape detailing. The cincture and embroidered stole make it equally appropriate for ceremonial photography, jubilee Masses and academic-religious convocations.
