Clergy Rabats & Vests

What Is a Clergy Rabat?

A clergy rabat is a vest-style front worn under clerical clothing to create the appearance of a full vest without added bulk. It supports the clergy collar and provides a smooth front panel, making it a practical part of church service clothing and ministerial dress. Unlike liturgical vestments, the rabat belongs to everyday or formal clerical wear rather than sacramental garments.
