Description
A Ceremonial Robe with a Built-In Stole
The Oblivion is designed for moments when you want a single vestment to carry the visual weight of stole and robe together. The gold orphrey runs from each shoulder seam down to the hem in a generous, even width, framing the chest and giving the robe its processional presence. The cut is full and dignified, with bishop sleeves and a deep yoked back that drape gracefully on the move.
Gold Orphrey and Cross Embroidery
The orphrey is a brushed gold-thread tapestry trim, double-stitched onto the front so it reads as a built-in stole rather than a layered piece. Two gold Latin crosses are satin-stitched into the chest panels in the same tonal gold as the orphrey, with a slim outline border for sharpness on camera. The result is dignified rather than flashy, and it photographs cleanly under both warm sanctuary light and cool broadcast lighting.
Construction and Inner Build
A deep yoke and pleated back let the body drape with weight, while a covered front zipper hidden behind the orphrey keeps the closure invisible. Inner shoulder canvas keeps the orphrey panels flat across the upper chest, and the bishop sleeves are interlined at the cuff so the gathered fall holds its shape through every gesture.
Fabric, Weight, and Care
The shell is a year-round wool-polyester blend at roughly 240 gsm, with a true matte black finish that lets the gold trim do the visual work. Orphrey is woven viscose-poly tapestry trim. Dry clean recommended; steam the orphrey gently from the inside to refresh the gold without flattening the weave.
Who This Robe Is For
The Oblivion is a strong choice for senior pastors, AME and COGIC bishops, ordaining ministers, denominational executives, and chaplaincy directors who lead ordinations, installations, and high-feast services. It also works for ecumenical processions where you want a robe that reads as ceremonial without committing to a full episcopal cope.

FAQs
Do I still need a separate stole?
Not for most preaching contexts—the gold orphrey reads as a built-in stole. If your tradition requires a colored liturgical stole on top, the orphrey lays flat and accepts a stole cleanly across the shoulders.
Is the gold real metal thread?
The standard orphrey uses a high-quality gold-tone viscose-poly thread that resists tarnish and dry cleans cleanly. We offer a true bullion-thread upgrade for the embroidered crosses on made-to-measure orders.
Will it work for ordinations?
Yes. The ceremonial silhouette and gold orphrey are well suited to ordinations, installations, and ecumenical processions where presence matters.
How do I clean it without damaging the orphrey?
Take it to a clergy-experienced dry cleaner. Avoid steaming directly on the orphrey from the front; instead steam from the back of the panel on a low setting to refresh the trim without flattening the weave.
