Description

A Navy Cassock for Evening Services & Academic Occasions

Serenitas was drafted for the formal end of the blue spectrum — a deep navy that reads almost as black under low evening light, returning to its true cool blue under daylight. The shade is well suited to choral evensong, evening prayer, ordinations held after sunset, and academic occasions where the cassock sits beneath a hood and gown.

Antique Brass Buttons & Ivory Piping

The signature feature is a single line of antique brass buttons running the full placket, paired with a fine ivory cord piping inset along the button line. The brass picks up sanctuary candlelight; the ivory piping reads as a clean line of separation at distance, framing the cassock’s vertical authority on camera.

Tailoring & Construction

Mandarin clerical collar shaped for a 1.5” white tab, full-length brass-button placket with reinforced bar-tacks, two interior cassock pockets, felled side seams for a flat finish under hood and gown, and a tape-finished hem.

Fabric & Care

Premium polyester-rayon broadcloth in a sealed deep navy, slightly heavier than our daily cassocks for a refined formal drape. Brass buttons are sealed against tarnishing in normal indoor wear; ivory piping is colorfast under dry cleaning. Dry clean only.

FAQs

Are the brass buttons real metal?

Yes. The buttons are antiqued brass with a sealed finish to resist tarnishing in normal indoor wear. They can be hand-polished with a soft cloth between services if desired.

Is Serenitas dark enough to read as navy or does it look royal blue?

Serenitas is a true deep navy. Under low evening light it reads almost as black; in daylight, the cool blue undertone returns. It is distinctly darker than Caelorum, Navis, and Azzuro.

Will it sit well under an academic hood and gown?

Yes. The slightly heavier broadcloth holds its line under a hood and gown, and the felled side seams are flat enough to avoid bulk under heavier academic vesture.

Can I switch the buttons to silver?

Yes. A polished silver button upgrade is available as an add-on for ministers whose vesture and academic dress favor silver hardware.
