The Solivagus is a true hermit cut. Wide at the shoulder, long through the body, with a deep hood that draws forward without effort. The sleeves are full and uncuffed, finishing just past the wrist. Worn open it falls in two clean panels; cinched with the rope cord it gathers into the soft, vertical drape associated with eremitical orders. The cut is deliberately undramatic — nothing on it competes with the wearer.
Fabric and Feel
Woven in a heavyweight wool-polyester blend (around 320 gsm) with a matte surface and quiet hand. The cloth holds its shape through long hours of standing and kneeling, falls without static, and breathes well enough for summer chapter as well as winter vigils. Dyed in a deep, unreflective black that reads as charcoal in daylight and true black under candle.
Construction
Bartacked stress points at the shoulder seam and hood join. French seams through the body so the inside is as clean as the outside. Reinforced hem with a hand-finished blind stitch. The rope cord is included — natural cotton, three-strand, knotted at both ends. The hood is lined in self-fabric for weight and quiet against the neck.

Brothers in eremitical or semi-eremitical life; retreat directors; oblates who keep solitary hours. Sizing and Made-to-Measure
Standard sizing runs from US chest 36 through 54 in Regular, Tall, and Short height runs. Made-to-measure adds custom chest, sleeve, body length, and hood depth; lead time is four to six weeks from order. We recommend MTM for anyone above 6’2”, under 5’7”, or outside the standard chest range.
