What This Dress Is, and What the Red Means
Red is not a neutral color choice on a clergy dress. Across the Christian traditions where the color is codified, red is the color of the martyrs, of Pentecost, and of the presence of the Holy Spirit. In the Roman Catholic and Anglican worlds it is the color of episcopal rank.
