Description
A Pulpit Jacket Built Around the Brocade
Auctor is designed around the gold-on-black brocade. The collar stands a full inch above the shoulder line so the woven cross pattern frames the face from chancel and camera, and the cuff bands are wide enough to read clearly when hands are raised in prayer or extended in benediction. Every other choice on the jacket – the matte body, the tonal piping, the clean placket – is intentionally restrained so the brocade carries the eye.
Signature Gold-on-Black Cross-Motif Brocade
The brocade is a jacquard-woven gold-on-black with a repeating medallion-and-cross pattern. Panels are applied to the upper Mandarin collar and to a deep four-inch turn-back cuff on each sleeve. A matching brocade trim outlines the chest welt pocket, tying the three accents into a single visual line from collar to hand.
Five-Button Centered Placket and Construction
Five tonal-gold dome buttons run a centered placket from the base of the Mandarin collar to the hem. The shoulder is lightly structured to anchor the brocade collar, the chest is half-canvassed for clean lapel-free roll, and a single back vent keeps the line clean from the rear of the sanctuary.
Matte Wool-Blend Body and Care
The body is a mid-weight wool-blend suiting with a true matte black finish that keeps the brocade clearly readable on broadcast camera. Dry-clean only and have any cleaner protect the brocade panels with tissue. Hang on a wide cedar hanger inside a breathable garment bag between services.
Sizing and Who It’s For
Cut for senior pastors, presiding elders, and apostolic bishops in AME, COGIC, Apostolic, and full-gospel traditions who lead from the pulpit and want ceremonial trim without a full vestment. Standard chest sizes 38-54 in regular and long; made-to-measure available for sleeve, hem, and shoulder. Pair with a black tab-collar shirt and matching black trousers.
FAQs
Is the brocade real metallic thread or printed?
It is genuine jacquard-woven brocade with metallic-effect gold yarn, not a print. The pattern reads three-dimensional in person and on broadcast camera.
What clerical shirt pairs best with the Auctor?
A black tab-collar or banded clerical shirt frames the brocade collar cleanly. White and ivory shirts also work; avoid heavily patterned shirts that compete with the cuff brocade.
Can the Auctor be worn for non-pulpit ministry?
It is designed for pulpit, ordinations, and ceremonial occasions. For weekday office and pastoral visits, the unadorned Valorum reads more conversational.
How should the brocade be cared for?
Dry-clean only, and ask the cleaner to protect the collar and cuff brocade with tissue. Brush gently in the direction of the weave with a soft horsehair brush after each wear.
