Subtle Texture, Enduring Formality
The Candrix Pique Shirt introduces refined surface texture to the Clergyss white shirts range. Pique fabric – recognisable from formal dress shirts and classic polo shirts – is woven with a raised, diamond or birdseye texture that gives the fabric a subtle three-dimensional quality. On the Candrix, this translates to a shirt that reads as impeccably white and formal from a distance but reveals a sophisticated fabric interest up close, distinguishing it from the plain-weave shirts in the collection.
The neckband collar is cut to the same standard as the broader Clergyss white shirt range, seating a detachable clerical collar insert flat and securely. The pique fabric’s natural body helps the collar band hold its shape throughout the day without wilting – an important practical advantage for clergy who wear their clerical collar from morning through evening services.
Fabric, Construction and Care
The Candrix is made from a pique-weave cotton or cotton-blend fabric whose textured construction gives the shirt both visual and tactile interest. The raised weave also aids breathability, as the pique structure creates microscopic air channels through the fabric that help regulate body temperature during extended wear in the sanctuary, sacristy, or community settings.
Construction is to the same standard as the rest of the Clergyss shirt range, with reinforced button plackets, double-stitched structural seams, and a precision-cut neckband collar. The pique fabric is machine washable (cold, gentle cycle) and tumble dries without significant shrinkage. Iron on a medium setting to restore the raised texture – avoid pressing too heavily, which can flatten the pique weave’s characteristic surface.
Who This Shirt Is For
The Candrix suits clergy who want to introduce a degree of visual distinction to their clerical dress while remaining within the formal parameters of white shirts. It is particularly appropriate for senior ministers, bishops, and cathedral clergy who wish to differentiate their dress subtly from the standard white shirt without departing from tradition. Chaplains and clergy in educational or institutional settings who frequently interact with the public in a formal capacity will also appreciate the Candrix’s polished appearance.
Available in standard neck sizes 14–26.
