Description

A Generously Cut Pelerine for Liturgical Gravitas

The defining feature of the Eminence is its full shoulder pelerine, drafted to a wider sweep than a standard cape so the silhouette reads with weight at the altar and during procession. The pelerine is fully lined and falls cleanly to mid-bicep, layered over a Roman cassock bodice that is shaped through the chest with a clean centre-front placket. The pattern reflects classic continental house-cassock tailoring rather than a modern slim cut.

Fascia with Hand-Knotted Side Fringe

Included with the cassock is a coordinating fascia — a wide black grosgrain sash finished with hand-knotted fringes that hang to the side. Worn at the natural waist, the fascia draws the bodice clean and creates the formal break between cape and skirt that is characteristic of senior parish and canonical dress. The fascia ties with hidden hooks for security; it is removable and can be ordered as a spare or replacement.

Construction, Cuffs and Pockets

The cassock is fully button-fronted from the stand collar to mid-calf, with a hidden hook-and-eye at the throat for a clean line under the Roman tab. White cotton turn-back cuffs are included and detach via a button-fixing for laundering between wears. Side-entry pockets sit behind the fascia line; an internal stole pocket is fitted at the bodice for transport of stole or small breviary.

Fabric and Care

Tailored from a four-season wool-polyester gabardine (approx. 55/45) chosen for matte finish, drape weight and stable creasing. The bodice is half-lined for breathability; the pelerine is fully lined to maintain shape across the shoulder line. Care: dry clean; steam on a wool setting; rotate the white cuffs at hand-wash temperatures.

Who This Cassock Is For

Recommended for Roman Catholic, Anglo-Catholic and Old Catholic clergy who serve in the traditional pelerine-and-fascia silhouette: parish priests presiding at solemn Mass, deacons of honour, canons in choir dress, masters of ceremonies and seminary formators. The Eminence is also a frequent choice for ordination photographs and clerical portrait sittings where a generously cut pelerine reads with formality.
