Description

A Modern Cassock-Robe Silhouette

The Noir Classic merges a Roman cassock’s vertical line with a tailored coat’s structure. The shoulders are slightly built up for a clean line under a stole, the chest is shaped with a soft canvas, and the body narrows gently through the waist before falling straight to the ankle. The result is a robe that photographs as crisp on stage and reads correctly in liturgical settings without looking dated.

Antique Brass Buttons and Gold Piping

Approximately 32 antique-finish brass buttons run from the mandarin collar to the hem, anchored on a reinforced placket. A slim gold piping borders the placket and continues around each cuff, with a small grouping of decorative buttons at the cuff itself. The piping is metallic-thread woven trim, not paint, so it stays bright with normal wear and dry cleaning.

Construction and Inner Build

A half-canvas chest, soft shoulder pads, and a Bemberg-style half lining give the robe its tailored coat-like structure. A center back vent allows freedom of movement when stepping into the pulpit. Two interior chest pockets accept a phone, sermon notes, or a small Bible, and the placket is fused so it stays straight and clean even after a long service.

Fabric, Weight, and Care

The shell is a year-round wool-polyester suiting at roughly 250 gsm with a true matte black finish. Buttons are sealed antique brass and resist tarnish in normal use. Dry clean recommended; cool iron through a pressing cloth on the placket if needed. With routine care this robe is built to serve as a primary vestment for many years.

Who This Robe Is For

The Noir Classic is built for senior pastors, AME and COGIC bishops, modern Anglican clergy, and worship leaders who want a single polished vestment that works for Sunday preaching, weddings, ordinations, and televised services. Layer it over a clergy shirt and tab collar, or wear unbuttoned at the throat with a Roman collar shirt for a less formal look.

FAQs

Is this a cassock or a clergy robe?

It is a hybrid: a tailored cassock-robe with the floor length of a cassock and the structure of a coat. It works as a standalone preaching vestment for many denominations and pairs cleanly with a stole.

Will the brass buttons tarnish?

Buttons are sealed antique brass and resist tarnish under normal wear and dry cleaning. Wipe with a soft dry cloth between uses if you preach in humid environments.

Can I wear it with a stole?

Yes. The shoulder line is built to support a stole without slipping, and we can add hidden snap loops at the shoulders on a made-to-measure order to keep the stole exactly in place.

Does it have interior pockets?

Yes. Two interior chest pockets accept sermon notes, a phone, or a small pocket Bible. Made-to-measure orders can add a hidden mic-pack pocket along the side seam.
