Description
A Quiet Tailored Pulpit Robe
The Valentis is the most restrained robe in our range. The body fabric is a true matte black, the orphrey panel is the same color in a low-luster satin, and the only visible contrast is a slight texture difference between the two finishes. The result is a robe that reads as fully tailored without calling attention to itself—appropriate for traditional preaching settings, funerals, and any service where the visual emphasis belongs to the gospel rather than the vestment.
Tonal Black Satin Orphrey
The orphrey is a slim panel of low-luster black satin, mitered at the corners and double-stitched onto the front so it sits perfectly flat. Under sanctuary lighting it reads as a soft vertical accent; on broadcast camera it adds depth without flashing. The panel runs from neckline to hem and frames a covered front zipper hidden behind it.
Construction and Inner Build
A yoked back and cartridge-pleat construction give the body a balanced, traditional fall, while a half-canvas chest keeps the front clean. Bishop sleeves are interlined at the cuff so the gather sits where it should. The closure is a covered two-way zipper hidden behind the orphrey panel, and the inner shoulder canvas keeps the panel flat through movement.
Fabric, Weight, and Care
The shell is a year-round wool-polyester blend at roughly 230 gsm, selected for true matte finish and clean drape. The orphrey is a low-luster poly satin chosen specifically to read as tonal under both warm and cool lighting. Dry clean recommended; gentle steam refreshes the front panel without damaging the satin face.
Who This Robe Is For
The Valentis is a strong choice for ministers who lead Reformed, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, and non-denominational worship and want a robe with no visible contrast trim. It is also a thoughtful choice for funerals, memorial services, and pastoral care contexts where understated dress matters more than visual presence.

FAQs
Is the orphrey panel really visible if it’s the same color?
Yes—the satin reflects light differently than the matte body, so the panel reads as a soft vertical line up close and as quiet structure from the pews. It is intentional, not flashy.
Is this robe appropriate for funerals?
Very much so. Many ministers choose this robe specifically for funerals, memorial services, and chaplaincy work because of its restrained, dignified silhouette.
Can I add embroidery later?
Yes. Bring it to a clergy embroiderer or send it back to us; we can add a chest cross, monogram, or ministry seal at any time. Hand work is preferred over machine work for this fabric.
Will the satin orphrey wrinkle when packed?
Pack the robe folded across the orphrey rather than along it, and steam gently on arrival. The poly-satin recovers cleanly from light travel creasing.
