Description

A Shirt for Evening Liturgy and After-Hours Ministry

Vespera was drafted for clergy whose ministry runs deep into the evening — vespers, evening prayer, sung compline, hospital chaplaincy on the night shift, parish council meetings, and the inevitable late pastoral call. The cut is a tailored regular fit with a slightly fuller sleeve and a longer back tail, designed to hold its line through the second wear of the day under a robe or jacket.

Twin Chest Pockets for Working Ministry

The signature feature is twin flat chest pockets, sized to carry a pen and reading card on one side and a vial of anointing oil or a small prayer book on the other. Pockets are bar-tacked at the corners and finished with a slim button flap on each, so contents stay anchored through visiting work and pulpit gestures.

Construction Details

Felled side seams, single-button barrel cuffs, a soft fused neckband sized for a 1.5” white tab, and a longer back tail to keep the shirt anchored through evening services. The placket is finished with reinforced bar-tacks at the top and bottom for durability across long-wear days.

Fabric & Care

65/35 cotton-poly broadcloth in a sealed deep black, finished with a slightly heavier hand than our daily shirts so the pockets sit cleanly even when loaded. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low, light press on placket, band, and pocket flaps.

FAQs

Why does Vespera have two chest pockets?

Twin chest pockets reflect the working reality of evening ministry: a pen and reading card on one side, a vial of anointing oil or small prayer book on the other. Both pockets are bar-tacked and have button flaps so contents stay anchored.

Is Vespera a long-sleeve or short-sleeve shirt?

Vespera is offered as a long-sleeve shirt with single-button barrel cuffs. For short-sleeve options in the same collection, see Altior or Tenorix.

Will the pockets sag when carrying a small prayer book?

The fabric is finished slightly heavier than our daily shirts and the pocket corners are bar-tacked, so a thin pocket prayer book or a vial of oil sits cleanly without distorting the chest line.

How does Vespera differ from Clerion?

Clerion is the year-round daily shirt with a full clerical collar band and a single chest pocket. Vespera is the working evening shirt with a tab-collar band, twin chest pockets, a slightly heavier fabric, and a longer back tail — designed for ministers whose duties run late.
