Description
Designed for Procession & Weekday Liturgy
Navis was drafted for ministers whose weekly rhythm includes procession in and out of the sanctuary, communion at the rail, and chancel sitting through extended liturgy. The cassock is cut at full length with a deeper hem allowance so the line stays correct during walking and kneeling, and the deep-blue ground reads as gravely traditional rather than vivid royal.
Center-Back Inverted Pleat
The signature feature is a true center-back inverted box pleat that runs from the yoke to the hem. The pleat allows the cassock to open cleanly when the wearer walks or sits without distorting the front placket, and it adds a small amount of fabric drape that reads as traditional vesture from the back of the church.
Tailoring & Construction
Mandarin clerical collar shaped for a 1.5” white tab, full-length button placket with reinforced bar-tacks, two interior cassock pockets, felled side seams for a flat finish under stoles, and a tape-finished hem to weight evenly across the back pleat.
Fabric & Care
Mid-weight polyester-rayon broadcloth in a sealed deep blue, slightly darker than our Caelorum, with enough body to support the back pleat without bulk. Dry clean recommended; light steam between wears, paying attention to the pleat fold.

FAQs
Why does Navis have a back pleat?
The center-back inverted pleat allows the cassock to open cleanly during processional walking and chancel sitting without distorting the front line. It is a traditional construction feature for liturgical wear.
How is Navis different from Caelorum?
Navis is the traditional liturgical cassock with a deeper blue ground and a true back pleat for procession. Caelorum is the calmer, daily-wear cassock without the back pleat in a slightly brighter royal blue.
Will the cassock fit a tall priest?
Standard Tall lengths fit most ministers up to 6’4”. For taller frames or unusual proportions, choose made-to-measure for a custom length and sleeve.
Can the pleat be removed in made-to-measure?
Yes. Made-to-measure orders can specify a flat back without the inverted pleat for a closer modern silhouette. Note this on the measurement form when you order.
