The White Full-Button Cassock
Serenova is the white counterpart to Monastara. It uses the same full-button construction, the same A-line body, the same straight sleeve, and the same stand collar, but in white rather than black. The visible button row down the center front gives Serenova the traditional cassock silhouette that a concealed-closure garment like Lucenta does not have.
White full-button cassocks are used in parishes that want the formal, structured look of a button-front cassock combined with the baptismal symbolism and visual brightness of white. They are common in Roman Catholic parishes for First Communion servers, in Anglican and Episcopal churches for youth acolyte programs, and in non-denominational and Pentecostal congregations where white is the standard server color regardless of liturgical season.
Visible Buttons on White Fabric
The covered buttons are wrapped in matching white fabric. On white, covered buttons create a subtle textural line down the center front rather than the visual punctuation that exposed buttons produce. The effect is formal without being heavy; the button row is visible as a structural detail at close range and from the side, but it does not dominate the front the way a contrasting button color would.
The practical difference between Serenova’s visible buttons and Lucenta’s concealed closure is that Serenova reads as a cassock from the front, with the traditional center-line button detail, while Lucenta reads as a simpler robe or tunic. Parishes that want their servers to look like they are wearing a cassock rather than a generic vestment typically choose the button-front construction.
Cut and Construction
The body is A-line from a set-in shoulder seam, falling to floor length with a center back seam. The straight sleeves are cut close to the arm, matching Monastara and Umbraval. The close sleeve is the safer choice for servers handling lit candles and thuribles.
The stand collar is closed with a single covered button at the center front. The collar sits close to the neck at a moderate height, formal enough for processional services but comfortable enough for younger servers to wear through a long liturgy without fidgeting.
Fabric and Care
Serenova is made from a breathable lightweight tropical fabric in a soft warm white. The warm white reads as liturgical and sits well in sanctuaries with stone, wood, and warm-toned interiors. It does not look blue-tinted under LED or fluorescent lighting, which is the common problem with optical-white vestment fabrics.
White cassocks with visible buttons need attentive laundering because dirt and candle wax show immediately against white fabric, and the button coverings need to stay the same shade as the body. If the body whitens over time but the button wrappings retain their original shade (or the reverse), the buttons begin to stand out as a different color.
Care: machine wash cold or warm with whites only. A mild oxygen-based brightener can be used to maintain whiteness; do not use chlorine bleach, which yellows synthetic-blend fabrics and can discolor the button coverings at a different rate from the body. Tumble dry low or hang to dry. Steam rather than press directly over the button row.
