A plain white habit in the Franciscan and monastic tradition
The Humilitas takes its name from humility, and its white colour recalls the plain, undyed cloth of the early religious orders. It is a habit for daily life: prayer in choir, work in the house and time with the people a community serves.
Signature feature: structured short pelerine
A short, structured pelerine falls to mid-chest over the shoulders, giving the habit a neat, defined outline. It sits beneath a deep hood that can be raised for prayer or worn down across the back.
Construction
The body is cut full-length with an easy fit and generous sleeves. An ivory cord cincture ties at the waist, its pale colour giving a gentle contrast to the traditional finish to the habit.
Fabric choice and care
Choose breathable cotton (included) for everyday wear in the cloister, chapel and garden, or lightweight tropical suiting (+$30) for a smoother drape and comfort in hot, humid climates. Cotton: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, hang to dry and press with a warm iron. Tropical: dry clean, or hand wash cold and steam to refresh. Store on a broad hanger so the hood and shoulders keep their shape.
