A full, flowing choir robe in jet black
The Obscurus is cut for the solemn moments of monastic life: the night Office, feast-day processions and ceremonies where the robe should move with grace. Its deep black and generous volume give a quiet, dignified presence in choir.
Signature feature: gathered yoke and pleated body
The fabric is gathered into a shaped yoke across the shoulders and then released into deep pleats that fall to the hem. Wide bell sleeves continue the same fullness, so the robe drapes in long folds when standing and swings freely when walking.
Construction
A deep hood sits at the neckline and can be raised for prayer. The robe is designed to be worn loose without a cincture, letting the pleats hang in their natural line; a cincture can be added if your custom requires one.
Fabric choice and care
Choose breathable cotton (included) for everyday wear in the cloister, chapel and garden, or lightweight tropical suiting (+$30) for a smoother drape and comfort in hot, humid climates. Cotton: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, hang to dry and press with a warm iron. Tropical: dry clean, or hand wash cold and steam to refresh. Store on a broad hanger so the hood and shoulders keep their shape.
